Winstonian Crafts local classes

Hi Guys. This post is a little different to the previous ones but its definitely something I wanted to share. Last night I held a craft class in my local village hall, it was an amazing turn out! I had prepared a canvas for the group to make with my guidance but I really wanted then to create their own piece which they certainly did.

The canvas I prepared (above) included techniques using gesso, ink sprays various brands, prima art stones and so much more. everyone seemed to enjoy it and they are looking forward to the next class as much as I am. Here is a few of the wonderful people who attended and their beautiful projects.

This is a new venture for me, hopefully it will be successful! I’m so happy to be able to do what I love as a job alongside caring for my mum who also attended. Thank you to all those who came and I look forward to seeing all of you again at the next class and perhaps some new faces too? Happy crafting!

Vintage Floral Birthday Card

Hi guys! I thought I would share this birthday card with you today, I made it for a close crafty friend so I put in a little extra effort. I began by cutting out a card base 5×7 inches and putting together some pieces of scrap card that complemented each other. I roughed up the edges of all the pieces of scrap card and then distressed then further using the Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I also used the Vintage Photo ink to distress a piece of lace and burlap I selected to embellish the card.

After layering the scrap card, burlap and lace onto the card base I selected some embellishments to for create further layers. The paper flowers I used are cream so I added some more Vintage Photo Ink to blend them with the project. I also chose to used some corrugated cardboard as its one of my favourite textures to use in mixed media projects due to its dimension and natural colour.

After assembling the card I decided to add some metal embellishments and a happy birthday banner that was from the Tim Holtz Simple Sayings stamp set and then die cut using the Tim Holts Tag Collection. I brought the metal embellishments from Ebay in a bulk lot a long time ago but they fit perfectly in this project. I hope you enjoyed this project, if you did, why not have a go at creating it? If and when you do take some pics and post them on Instagram or Facebook using the hash tag Winstoniancrafts so I can see them. I would love to see your take on this project. Happy crafting!
